Mugilpete, also known as Mandalpatti, is a popular tourist destination near Madikeri in Coorg, Karnataka, India. It's known for its breathtaking views, particularly during foggy weather, and is a popular spot for trekking and scenic drives. The name "Mugilpete" (meaning "cloud village") is said to have originated from its location within the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, where it's often shrouded in clouds.

2.  Golden Temple

 

The Golden Temple, also known as Namdroling Monastery, is a prominent Buddhist monastery in Coorg (Kodagu district), Karnataka. It's one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist settlements in India and is renowned for its impressive architecture, serene atmosphere, and large golden statues of Buddhist deities. The monastery is a center for learning Tibetan culture and Buddhism and is also a popular tourist attraction.

             Bylakuppe, near Kushalanagar, in Coorg district. 

Significance:

            The monastery is a significant center for Tibetan Buddhism and a cultural hub for Tibetan refugees who fled China's occupation in the 1950s. 

Architecture:

            It's known for its distinctive four-story entrance tower with symbolic Buddhist artwork and the main shrine hall adorned with gold statues. 

Golden Temple Name:

            The monastery is called "Golden Temple" due to the numerous golden statues within the main shrine hall. 

Founder:

            The monastery was established in 1963 by His Holiness Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche. 

    

3. Lalitha Mahal :

This is the Lalitha Mahal, built by the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore to host his most important guest, the Viceroy of India. The Lalitha Mahal is now one of India's most opulent hotels, a palace hotel that offers an experience of princely living in a real Maharaja's palace.
